Hi everybody! Once again I could not cover everything in class to the level all of you wanted. This is a brief description of the Aztec capital city, Tenochtitlan. As a reminder, modern Mexico City sits on top of the ruins of this amazing city. It was completely destroyed when the Aztecs were conquered by the Cortes and the Spanish.
Amazingly, Tenochtitlan, the capital to the enormous Aztec empire, was built on by enlarging a small island in the middle of a lake. When Cortes arrived it was the home to at least 200,000 people. This brief lecture contains material I find very interesting and I hope you do to. The engineering achievements of the Aztec were only quickly mentioned in class. I hope that this description of Tenochtitlan helps improve your understanding of these people.
